Shernett Williams brings over 32 years of distinguished service with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), where she advanced through progressive leadership roles including Staff Sergeant, Project Manager, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Manager, Senior Uniform Recruiter, and Constable. Her career reflects a deep commitment to strengthening police recruitment, advancing diversity and inclusion, and building strong partnerships across law enforcement and community organizations.
As a former Staff Sergeant/Project Manager, Shernett successfully led the planning and coordination of large-scale, cross-functional initiatives, ensuring projects were delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to stakeholder needs. Her work emphasized collaboration, accountability, and outcome-driven performance.
In her role as DEI Manager, she championed inclusive recruitment strategies, analyzed applicant outcomes, and developed outreach initiatives to attract and retain underrepresented groups. She also provided training, policy recommendations, and best practices to enhance equitable hiring processes across Ontario’s policing sector.
As a Senior Uniform Recruiter, Shernett applied her extensive knowledge of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) Constable Selection System (CSS) to assess candidates, conduct interviews, and guide recruitment practices. She represented the OPP on provincial committees, working closely with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services and the OACP to strengthen recruitment standards, testing protocols, and selection tools.
Shernett’s extensive frontline experience as a police constable further shaped her ability to understand the realities of modern policing, from crisis response and community engagement to investigative and judicial responsibilities. She combines this practical foundation with strategic expertise in policy, training, and leadership development.
